Started out this morning after a great breakfast at the JC in Trinidad before setting out for LaJunta,NM.
A perfect day for cycling:temps rose only to 72 degrees and winds were 10 mph at our backs or left side. Many abandoned towns enroute.
We ate lunch at one of them,Thacher. We arrived before the sag wagon who had our sack lunches. This was about mile 39.
after refuelin and refilling out water bottles we proceded out and rode thru about 22 miles of the Commanch National Grasslands. Beautuful area, other than a few vehicles and fellow cyclists therevwas just an Amtrak train to break the solitude.
Rewatered from sag wagon at Timpas, another abandoned town and continued in to lajunta and set up tents at the Otera Junior College soccer field.
After a quick shower and washing of todays riding clotheswe visited the Koshare indian museum on campus. They have quite a collection!
Off to supper in afew minutes.
It is in teresting to note that the 84 miles we rode took 4-6 daysby wagon train, 41/2-6 hrs by bicycle but an hour and a half via car. E
