Hillsboro to Council Grove, KS
Started the morning wit breakfast St Wendy's. Think we overwhelmed the staff. The women at the register asked where we were riding and Earl answered Council grove and she replied "Hillsboro"? Gee I guess she didn't know she was in Hillsboro.
Rode thru Lincolnville, a dying town. Only stopped to take a few pictures. Next stop at Burdick for lunch. The market was actually a meat locker but had a few food items and meat but no bread. A customer heard this and went home and brought back a loaf a bread. So sandwiches could be made.
We ate our tuna fish and and crackers and started on our way again. The wind was out of the SE and we were heading NE so going north was fine but east... We had a route of 7-10 miles north and then east, until the last 24 miles, all east and gradual uphill. Was glad to see Council Grove in the distance on a bit of a down hill for the last 4 miles!
We cruised thru town and found local Lutheran church for us to go to services tomorrow. Set up camp in the city park and then went to the new life center for a $6 shower. A bit high but at least clean and warm.
Supper at Hays House, Brisket, green beans, fiesta salad, rolls and apple crisp. Now sitting in a Lions shelter at the park where there is electricity and lights.
Tomorrow breakfast at the Senior center and then to church. Low of 44 tonight with high of 68 tomorrow.
