On sunday evening had a buffet dinner at el rialto in west las vegas.this morning had a buffet style breakfast there also. This was a change from the plan in that the youth group at the lan in that the high school youth group were to use this evebt as a fund raiser but a week before the event they backed out. One of the ride leaders negotiated with the folks at el rialto,who are normally closwd on sunday and monday, to help us out. Many thanks el rialto!
The night temp was a balmy 55 deg. Great sleeping in the tent ex for every dog in yown barking all night!
After breakfast this a.m. We rode thru las vegas nm and headed to Fort Union natl historical site, this fort was the main fort in area and supplied 8-8 smaller ones in the area.
A tail wind blew us to Wagon Mound NM which was a landmark town for the wagon trains, it could be seen 80 miles away.
Cycling clothes washed and tent staked on the baseball fied at the high school Dinner was by the junior ans senior youth to send the seniors on a trip to florida in the spring. Breakfast by them tomorrow also.showers tonight were exactly opposite of yesterday.... All hot no cold!
Overall it was anither great day to ride.
After 2days of riding with Nd amongst the other 39 riders it is interesting to note the following.
1)the swiss riders are riding bike fridays.
2)there are 2 recumbant riders
3)one couple is riding a tandem
4) most are riding road/toyring bike with 2 riders using friction shifting instead of index or sis shifters.
The oldest rider is 84 he has done this ride twice before and is alternating riding and driving a sag vehicle.the youngest is twenty three. The average age is around 62.
