Day 8

Good Sunday evening!
Rainy night last night in lamar,CO. Storms rooled thru and with it the stentch of the local (enormous) cattle feed lot. Adequate breakfast at the Lamar community college then packed wet and headed to our first rest /lunch stop at mile 38 in town of Holly,CO
Ride to holly was rolling with small cross wind, temp was 52 deg.
Lot of feed lots and a large llama farm.
Arrive at Holly at the methodist church for lunch at 10 am, sandwi hes and baked goodies were provided by a lady and her family since the ride started 17 yrs ago.
Notice i had a rear flat upon getting ready to leave... Pinch flat from a shedded tire liner. Tozzed the liner and changed the tube pumped up with a borrowed pump since a part on mine must have loosened up and rattled away.
In four miles we reached the Kansas border,2 miles later reached town of Coolidge,ks and stopped 14 miles later in Syracuse,ks for powerade and chips.
After Syracuse we found Kansas is not flat!(nor is it mountainous) but the change relieved the monotany.
Arrived at Lakin high school dried out the tent and rainfly and set up the tent.usual shower and bike clothes washing completed. Spaghetti dinner by a community group, perfect after 84 miles.
Walked to the Kearny county museum... Quite interesting.
Currently with a bottke of peanuts and a Ranger Pale Ale!
Tomorrow takes us to Dodge city, ks...then a layoverday. E
